A Pew Poll in November 2011 showed that 1241 out of 2001 randomly polled people favor the death penalty for those convicted of murder.
a) Test the hypothesis that more than half of people favor the death penalty using a significance level of .05
b)If there were a vote by the public about whether to ban the death penalty, would it pass?
For my null hypothesis, I used p=.5 and for my alternative hypothesis I used p>.5
To compute the z statistic, I used .62 as the sample proportion and subtracted that value from .5 and divided the new value by the SE which is .0111
However, the z statistic value came out to 10.73 which is not on the normal table. HELP
