A record number of people have quit their jobs since the beginning of the pandemic. Sparked by work from home due to the pandemic and experiencing a better work-life balance, majority of the workforce reexamined and concluded their work-life balance takes priority over their cushioned jobs. A staggering one in five workers globally plan on quitting their jobs, as per PWC's Global Workforce Hopes and Fears Survey.
The study has made it clear money is not the most enticing thing for most. Job fulfilment and meaning came a close second and third as enticing to quit or take up a job. Work flexibility has taken a priority for the first time in history. 26% employees would rather work from home but only 18% employees believe their employers are likely to adapt the model. Additional surveys by Microsoft and Mckinsey found 41% and 40% employees likely to quit this year in a more recent study.
Companies trying to navigate through the great resignation by trying to focus on purpose and meaning, offering their employees flexibility and hybrid opportunities as an attempt to retain current employees and attract newer talent.
