A researcher dried a feedstuff and determined that it contained a certain percent moisture. He took 1 gram (DRY) of it and combusted it in the bomb calorimeter. The calorimeter contains 1 KG of water. The temperature was raised 3.0 degrees centigrade.
One gram of dried feces combusted in the BOMB CALORIMETER raised the temperature 2.7 degrees C.
Two Kilograms of dry matter (2000 grams) of the material was fed to the pig each day for several days. The fecal collections of the pig averaged 235 grams dried per day for the last few days. The feedstuff analyzed 2.8 percent nitrogen (DRY BASIS); the feces (DRY BASIS) analyzed 2.7 percent nitrogen. The urine was collected and analyzed to contain 2.0 Kcal/ml and the excretion was 100 ml.
The heat increment was 97 Kcal.
Calculate the digestibility of Dry Matter and CP, and DE, ME and Net E in amount, % and Kcal/Kg.
