The process of recruitment has always been a high volume and constant in the hospitality industry. The industry has a relatively large proportion of entry level, low skilled jobs which by their nature turn over quickly. The level of turnover is related to several factors. While pay is a factor, it is not the major factor.

Given that turnover is a constant it is important that every business unit has a robust recruiting, selection, and orientation process that provides a continual inventory of qualified candidates and that the hiring process is streamlined and automated to the extent possible.

You have recently joined the staff of a large independently owned and managed country club as an Assistant HR Manager. The club is a popular facility that includes an 18-hotel championship golf course, two dining facilities (one casual, one formal) a bar, indoor and outdoor event spaces, and a spa. The club offers golf memberships and offers access to the guests of an adjacent 5-star luxury resort.

You have been tasked by the HR Director at improving the recruiting, selection, hiring and orientation processes for the club. Separately and apart from your task, the HR Director is working with the club managers to reduce turnover, but that is outside of your scope for now.
