A reservoir collects water runoff during rain storms. It will drain itself under normal conditions, but during a heavy rainstorm, a pump must turn on to keep it from overflowing. Two sensors detect the water level. One sensor near the bottom of the reservoir detects when the water level has risen to a level that the pump should turn on. The other sensor at the top of the reservoir detects if the water level has risen too high and threatens to overflow the holding tank. The pump motor runs on three phase power. Each phase of the incoming power circuit has a sensor that indicates whether or not there is power on that phase. All three phases must be present for the motor to operate. The sensors operate as follows: The water level sensors output a high (5 volts) when the sensor is below water and output low 0 volts) otherwise The power sensors outputs a low (0 volts) when the phase power is present and outputs a high 5 volts) when power is absent. The system has multiple outputs that must be monitored. Some of these are purposefully vague, and it is up to you to clarify and defend your design One output that shows that the system is running correctly. This indicator is active when there is no need for the pump to run and motor power is present, or that the pump is running as requested by the lower water level sensor. One output that shows a system failure. This indicator should be active for any and all failures. An output that shows a water level sensor failure. An output that shows when the pump is running.
