A student in engineering at Dalhousie University in Halifax has developed an inexpensive device which he feels should improve the gas mileage of any car to which it was attached. However, to proceed with getting the device to market, she needs financial backing. A group of venture capitalists have agreed to meet with her next week to discuss the possibility of their funding her venture. However, they have stated categorically that if she does not provide any data to back up her claims, they will not support her. In response, she has, among other things, conducted a test of the effect of using or not using her device on cars in the Halifax region. She convinced 18 car owners in the Halifax area (all with different cars) to participate in her field test of her device. She installed her device to operate in 9 of these cars.
