Suppose Bruce's Blue Water ('BBW') has a monopoly in the market for water in Bingworld.

Explain why BBW's marginal revenue curve sits below the demand curve it faces. If demand is a downward-sloping straight line, what is the relationship between the slope of the demand curve and that of the marginal revenue curve?

Suppose BBW faces a demand curve of P = 100 - 8Q, where Q is in megalitres. If the monopolist also has a constant marginal cost of $4 per megalitre, what is the price and quantity it will charge to maximise its profit?

If BBW's maximum profit is $168, how much are their fixed costs? Calculate the ATC at the profit maximising quantity and graph the area that represents this maximum profit, including the ATC, MR, MC and Demand curves.the question is okay

1- Company YSJ approaches your financial institution for a bankers' acceptance (BA), with a face value of $7,000,000, for a 90-day term. Assuming the discount rate is 2.74%, what will the BA trade for today? Also, provide calculations that show YSJ's true cost, on an annual basis.

2- A T-bill's current price is $982, and has 182 days to maturity; using calculations, show the difference between the bond discount yield (rBDY) and bond equivalent yield (rBEY). Also, use the formula from class, to calculate the rBEY, given your rBDY value

The following questions use data from Japan, where the government sets the price of health care. Each prefecture in Japan has a different set of prices, with data from 1999 below:

Region

Outpatient visits (Q) Price/visit (P) Tokyo

1.25/month 20 Hokkaido

1.5/month 10

1. Think of these as two points on the demand curve for outpatient visits. What is the price elasticity of demand for health care in Japan at a price of 20? What is the price elasticity of demand at a price of 10?

2. Using your calculation of the elasticity at P = 20, what would you predict for Q if the price in Tokyo was raised to 30? Using your calculation of the elasticity at P = 10, what would you predict for Q if the price in Hokkaido was lowered to 5?

You continue to observe this health care system into the year 2000, when both regions were given new prices.

Region

Outpatient visits (Q) Price/visit (P) Tokyo

1.0/month 30 Hokkaido

1.2/month 15

3. What is the price elasticity in 2000 at a price of 30, and what is the price elasticity at a price of 15?

4. Now take the numbers for both tables, and think in terms of separating the two cities. Using just Tokyo data to establish the demand curve/slope, what is the price elasticity of demand at P = 20, and what is it at P = 30? Using just Hokkaido data to establish its own demand curve/slope, what is the price elasticity of demand for prices of 10 and 15?

5. Using your elasticities from (e) - what would you predict for Q if the price in Tokyo was raised the next year from 30 to 60? What would you predict in Hokkaido if the price is raised from 15 to 60?

6. Write down a few difficulties with estimating price sensitivity (elasticity) in the market for health care.

Vision/Mission Statement and Goals

A. Vision Statement Level Property Inspections is a home inspection company. Buying a home is one of the biggest investments you and your family will make for your present and future. Buying a home with a little more peace of mind is always nice. Level Property Inspections knows from experience the worries of buying a home. The process can be extremely confusing, frustrating, and stressful.

There are, as with any investment, risks. However, a trustworthy and professional home inspection with Level Property Inspections is one way to ease some of those stressors. Level Property Inspections aims to be just that for its customers. A professional inspection can also reduce your overall risk. Thus, making the buying experience a more favorable adventure.

B. Goals and Objectives Level Property Inspections is to be a part-time and retirement job. This will allow me to have extra income now and later in life. Owning a business is something I have always wanted to accomplish in life.

The first objective is to obtain the proper schooling/training that I will need to become a certified home inspector. Following the technical training, I will join InterNACHI, an international, professional organization for home inspectors, and stay in good standing. This objective will keep me up to date with common building practices and allow me to give the best knowledge to my customer.

The second objective is to network with realtors and other people in the real-estate industry. This will have to be in the service area I have specified. Keeping a good working relationship with these realtors and a professional reputation as one of the best inspectors will be key to the success of Level Property Inspections.

A computer, software, website, origination dues, ladders, and hand tools are the financial investment to start the business. This start-up cost should consume $5,000 in the first year and $2,500 per year thereafter. I decided to go with the Spectora software as it has integration with invoicing, website, report writing and payment processing. These features will decrease overall operating costs as they are part of the operating system.

The risks are minimal for this is a part-time endeavor. The biggest risk is not having the knowledge and training needed for this industry. Lack these two critical points will cause the customer to receive the wrong information or missing something in the inspection process. Also, not have the proper licenses through that State of operation.

C. Keys to Success Communication skills, technical knowledge, and networking with the real-estate community to gain connections that will give this business referrals will increase the success of Level Property Inspections. As owner, I will need to build a great reputation through effective communication and a vast knowledge of the construction of houses. This idea will compound the company's reach to prospective customers. Meeting with realtors, handing out business cards and networking for future clients will be a regular occurrence. Level Property Inspections was established in July 2016 and successfully been operating as a part-time business since while utilizing these keys to success.
