At B the grippers close to grab the filament from its holder. The filament enters its socket at C and is fully inserted at D. The high dwell from D to E holds the filament stationary while it is soldered in place. The follower returns to its start position from E to F. From F to A the follower is stationary while the next bulb is indexed into position. It is desirable to have low to zero velocity at point B where the grippers close on the fragile filament. The velocity at C should not be so high as to "bend the filament in the breeze." Design and size a complete cam-follower system to do this job. Desired Output Please design and size a complete cam-follower system to do the job. Specific outputs for this project include: (i) goal statement; (ii) task specifications; (iii) select the cam functions to meet the specifications, compare at least two designs, i.e., the displacement, velocity, acceleration and jerk diagrams (SVAJ) of the follower or the object of interest; (iv) select the optimum design and explain why; (v) For the optimum design, select the cam size and follower size to meet the requirement for the pressure angle and curvature; (vi) plot the cam profile to verify no undercuts; (vii) conclude the final cam-follower design. Please discuss possible design changes that should be considered in future design efforts. Dynacam 10 will be used for this design project.
