A vapor-compression cycle is the most widely used method for air conditioning of automobiles. This cycle employs a volatite refrigerant and consists of a condenser, compressor, evaporator and an expansion valve. A representative schematic diagram of a vapor-compression cycle is given below. This vapor - compression cycle can be represented on a P-H diagram as follows; Between points 3 and 4 the vapor is compressed, the compressed vapor is then cooled and condensed to a liquid between 4 and 1 , and between points 1 and 2 the liquid undergoes an expansion and vaporization to form a cool gas-liquid mixture. Between points 2 and 3 the gas-liquid mixture absorbs heat and the remaining liquid vaporizes. An automobile air conditioning system uses a vapor-compression cycle in which HFC-134a is used as a refrigerant. The following data is obtained for the cycle: The compressor will be assumed to operate adiabatically and reversibly (isentropically), we will assume that there are no pressure changes in the system other than across the compressor and the expansion valve. The mass flow rate is constant and kinetic \& potential energy differences are negligible. a) Show the energy balance across all components of the cycle. b) Fill in the missing values in the table c) Calculate the Coefficient of Performance (COP) for this refrigeration cycle. d) Show the cycle on the following P.H diagram of HFC-134a Coefficient of Performance (COP)=WPQB
