A(9) bulk phase 2=0 NA NB reaction film z=L Catalyst In a gas conversion reactor, ethylene (A, gas) is dimerized to produce butylene (B, gas), as shown below: 2C, H.(9) CHg(9) The reaction is to pass ethylene through a catalyst bed and the reaction happens on the catalyst surface. It's known the gas in the channel (bulk phase) is 80% ethylene and 20% butylene (molar fraction). The reaction system temperature is 80C and pressure is 3.5 atm. Assuming the reaction rate is high on the catalyst surface and the system has reached steady state. The thickness of gas reaction film is L = 0.5mm and DBA = 1.37 x 10-5m/s. Estimate the production rate of butylene (B). (20 pt)
