Aaron, a graduate drops in one Sunday afternoon to see one of his professors - Prof. Hansome. After the initial
greetings and pleasantries, the discussion ventures into Aaron's professional work life. Prof
Hansome gets to know that Aaron works as a Management Trainee for Altonia Industries for
the last 10 months, albeit in various departments. He is currently working in the Market
Research Division for the company. Very soon, the prof realizes that the purpose of Aaron's
visit is that he wants to discuss with his professor about his job and the situations and issues
that he has facing at his workplace with his supervisors and the top management.
"To be honest Sir, I am not satisfied with what is happening around," starts Aaron, "In fact, I
am NOT HAPPY with the fact that the reporting managers behave more like supervisors than
as Managers."
"What exactly are you trying to say?" asks the Prof
"All they do is question everything instead of supporting us. They don't include us, the
management trainees, while taking important decisions on the work done."
"And why do they do so?"
"God knows! Seems like they are always angry with us."
"Did they ever shout at anyone? Or ill-treat anyone?"
"Not exactly. But there is always a way, isn't there?"
"Did you ever raise your concern?"
"Hell, No! They will definitely make a case against me to set other Management Trainees
right. Rest of the MTs also don't speak."
"Hmm... What about the Higher Management?"
"They seem to be worse. The Higher Management doesn't trust the work done by us and in
turn tries to redo the work already done, hence wasting valuable time. This further dissatisfies
the MTs in that they are not being able to gain the confidence of the higher management."
"Hmm...Any idea why do they do so?"
"Nope. Seems like they are on a hit-and-trial mode. All important decisions regarding me were
taken without even consulting me or taking me into confidence. Plus, there is too much
unnecessary work pressure at the workplace."
"Wow! Seems like your entire life is in the soup."
"I am planning to leave the job and look for another one. So, just wanted to have your
opinion."
