ABC Hospital has an entire wing of their facility set up to safely treat Ebola patients. Nursing and other medical staff entering this wing of the Hospital must spend extensive amounts of time preparing for work in the Ebola wing of the Hospital. Preparation involves wearing hazardous materials uniforms, Protective masks that filter air must also be worn. Once the uniforms and masks are on, the employee must pass a rigid inspection. It usually takes an hour of preparation before an employee can actually enter the Ebola wing of the Hospital.

Nurses and other medical staff usually work within the Ebola wing of the Hospital for 6 hours.

Likewise, after the shift in the Ebola wing ends, the employees have to remove their protective uniforms and masks in a supervised strict sequence to eliminate the risk of contamination.

The Hospital management is planning to only pay the employees for time actually spent working in the Ebola wing of the Hospital. Management believes that preparation time and clean-up time are not "principal activities" for which payment must be made.
