We considertheconstructionofleadershipinfluence involving manipulation and from narrative standpoint. We usethecareerofAdolfHitleras an empirical example - as acase- illustratingthehuge, and potentially destructive,powerofstory-telling.Hitleris used as an illustrativecasefor howstorytellingis involved in constructing greatleadershipinfluence - and with a view to making senseofsuch a leader's story. We have applied both conceptual and narrative analysis in our empiricalcase. In termsofthenarrative analysis, we follow Polkinghorne's definition on narrative inquiry. Despitethesignificant attention given tostorytellinginthecontemporary management literature, less research has been devoted to understanding its connection to destructiveleadership. As a resultofthecasewe have constructed a rich descriptionofevolving processofdestructiveleadership. Leaders all overtheworld can get practical guidance and support for their aims to be better leader and to resist badleadership.
