The authors then went on to describe six key characteristics of coaching. These include, coaching is a process, commonality and genericism, performance and participation coaching, coaching is a cognitive activity within a social context, coaching is a social process and the coach is a manager (Lyle & Cushion, 2016, p.337-339).
