September showed a massive growth for the eCommerce industry, sales jumped from 27% from September 2020, totaling the number of households who shopped online in the year to 30 September to 9.2 million. (5.3 million households shopping online each month in 2021) With the holidays season approaching most Australians tend to buy gifts earlier and 79% tend to do their shopping online this year, and that shows a massive gap since last year when about half of all holiday's gifts were purchased online.
