According to Wisner, "a process consists of a series of steps that turn inputs (such as experience, equipment, materials, time, and money) into outputs (goods, services, effective meetings, and educated kids) (2021, p.6)." Simplified, a process is just the chain of events in which work is completed. Process integration is when information is shared and teams collaborate with each other to manage a process.

At my current position we have a lot of processes. One example that comes to mind is our inspection process. Each month we evaluate all of our 4 locations to determine who is the best that month. We start with a checklist that measures effectiveness in each of the areas we determine are important. Each being the same for each location. We have shared this inspection process with several other locations across the United States so they can implement the inspections into their Squadrons as well. At the end of the month we tally up the points for each inspection and decide a winner for that month. The external customer in this scenario would be the 4 locations. The winner is then recognized by the Group Commander.

When I stepped into this position the process was already in place. However, based on issues that arose we have had to re-evaluate and revamp the process, changing some of the inspection areas and depth in which some programs were evaluated. This could be defined as process improvement. A simpler example of a process that I do would be pertaining to incoming new folks. I assign them to a location based on the needs of the Squadron and send them a welcome email notifying them of where they will be going. The beneficiary in this process being the Squadron receiving the additional manning. Simple process, yet important.
