Accounting Exercise Mr. Gambler confirmed his reservation at the VPC and left his credit card to guarantee it. He checked in on October 23, 2003 and requested if he could leave a cash deposit. He was paying a rate of $200 per night (Taxes GST & PST included) and staying for 2 nights. James (the receptionist) asked Mr. Gambler to leave a deposit of $600 for his stay (policy of the hotel is to take $100ight deposit for incidentals). Mr. Gambler said that he will leave a deposit of $300 now and he will bring down the remainder tomorrow. Mr. Gambler said that he was planning to go to the casino tonight, obviously he did not want to run short of SS on the roulette table. Mr. G arrived in his room and made a telephone call to his friend (S2). He then ordered a club sandwich from room service and signed the bill for $12.95. He then went down to the lounge and had a beer ($3.95). Just before retiring he decided to watch a movie ($9.95). The next morning Mr. G went to the restaurant and had a hearty American breakfast for S14.95 (he put that on his credit card). It was a beautiful sunny day, so he decided to spend some time by the pool and go for a swim. He realized he had not brought his swimming trunks, therefore he passed by the hotel gift shop and purchased a pair for $25.00. Later that afternoon he went to the casino with his friends. He returned in the evening and made another cash deposit of $300 at the front desk. He realized he had run out of cigarettes, the bellboy purchased them for him. He said the charge of$5.00 would be posted on his room account. Mr. G then went up to his room and ordered some room service. The 'clam chowder' was cold, the glass of Chardonnay was warm and the bread rolls seemed to be made of stone. The total bill was $35. He decided he would take it up with at check out tomorrow, Next morning Mr. G at checkout refused to pay for his room service meal from the previous night. The front desk agent adjusted the S35 charge right away. Question: What was the final balance on Mr. G's account? Did he owe us SS or did we do a reimbursement
