ACTIVITY 2: Insight into working for an Employer Association: HR/IR Jobs Objectives: 0 To consider what it would be like to work for an employer association 0 To analyse what an employer association does for its members 0 To consider how working for an employer association may benet a graduate's career prospects The Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) is Australia's peak industry association, representing thousands of employers across a range of diverse sectors. Our Member Services Unit provides vital support to our members on a broad range of Employment Relations matters including: - Industry Award and Enterprise Agreement interpretation; - Employment law issues ranging from unfair dismissal, adverse action, discrimination, bullying; - Workplace Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation; and - Development and application of HR policies and procedures to comply with legislation (State and Federal). About the Role: This role presents a unique opportunity to apply Industrial Relations and Human Resources knowledge and experience to engage directly with members on a wide range ofemployee relations and industrial relations matters. As part of a collaborative team, you will have the opportunity to work independently as well as to seek and offer assistance to your immediate colleagues and the organisation. Your ongoing learning will be a priority to meet the changing knowledge requirements of a dynamic Workplace Relations environment. About You: To be successful in this position, you must possess the following key criteria: *Degree qualifications in Law, HR or a related discipline such as ER or IR and preferably two years (or equivalent) of full-time experience in an HR or IR related role; *the ability to analyse and interpret detailed information, such as regulations, legislation, modern industry awards and enterprise agreements, and provide clear and concise advice on workplace relations issues to a high standard in a fast- paced environment; I"high interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to liaise with people at all levels of business; *strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to translate complex issues and concepts into 'plain English'; *excellent attention to detail and accuracy; *demonstrated ability to perform within a team environment; and I"strong customer service delivery focus. Previous experience in a telephone advisory environment is desirable.
