Adam is our employee and is working in the auto shop of the big-box store in your local community. He is experiencing a significant number of days away from work because of things happening at home. As the safety manager for the store, you are asked to find out what is happening with this otherwise terrific employee. He mentions that he has financial troubles, family troubles with both in-home family members and in-laws. He is taking classes at the local trade school to improve his standing and become part of the auto workers union as an apprentice. He is working two jobs: one at the big-box store and another at a local mechanics shop at night. Explain how all of these stressors could and probably are causing Adam to have physical issues from the psychological issues. What would your counsel be for Adam?
