Addressing Hunger and Food Waste Through an Innovative Food Distribution App

Our proposed project is that we introduce a mobile + web app that streamlines the process of connecting businesses with surplus food to individuals in need. Through the app, businesses can easily contribute their leftover products, preventing spoilage and reducing waste. This approach will differ from conventional methods by emphasising subsidised access to food, while also fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.

Access to nutritious food remains a challenge in many communities, leading to food wastage and neglect of the underprivileged. It is an unfortunate fact that traditional food regulations often contribute to excessive disposal of edible items and extreme wastage. Individuals facing poverty oftentimes find themselves struggling to find reliable sources of sustenance, and instead can end up resorting to unsanitary methods like scavenging from dumpsters which can also cause further complications like disease outbreak etc.

Collaboration with government and businesses, driven by incentives like tax breaks, positive public image boosts and a sense of community will fuel adoption. Combine these with a focused marketing campaign and we ensure broad usage within a year.
