After graduating from Fanshawe College, the members of your group have obtained employment with an established Quality Management Consulting firm with expertise in modelling Total Quality Management (TQM) standards, tools, frameworks, and processes for a wide assortment of organizations.
TQM requires business units to review supply chain and/or operations management for opportunities in continuous improvement. This approach uses the DMAIC framework of define, measure, analyze, improve and control to reduce variation. This process considers a broad spectrum of quality tools and approaches, including those relating to group development, leadership, problem solving, waste elimination, and variation reduction. The causes and effects of each opportunity and or failure mode are considered and, where appropriate, linked to strategic and tactical objectives as in a company's balance score card and or objectives.
Organizations face quality opportunities and uncertainties every minute of their operations and or in their supply chain. It is the effective management of these that places them in a better position to be able to achieve their strategic objectives and to embrace opportunities as they arise.
Your task, as a consultant group, is to advise the organization on an overall strategy that brings about a continuous improvement culture in the organization as a holistic integrated solution. Groups will select an organization and will research their mission, vision, and values to understand their approach to customers and quality. Using lived experience and information found on the internet, groups will identify a quality problem or problems that the organization has had and how they were resolved. Groups will then use the TQM approach and tools to analyze the issue and recommend how continuous improvement can help the organization to avoid this issue in the future. Recommendations are to be supported by research and TQM theory
Stage 2- Measure Stage
In the Measure Stage, groups will identify current inputs, processes, and outputs. This stage is about establishing the baselines that currently exist. Data is collected for analysis and benchmarking occurs.
Students are to continue adding to document from Stage 1. Before submitting Stage 2 requirements as outlined below, groups will use the Professor's feedback and comments to update the submission from Stage 1. In TQM we do not knowingly accept, create, and or pass on defects.
