After reading chapter 2 Neuroscience and behavior I was able to learn more about the brain and some specific functions it does. To begin I learned about the "old brain" or the central core which is part of your brain that controls core functions of your body. Examples of this can be primitive actions like learning how to breath and walk come from the context core. Another fact I learned is that any affect to the limbic system like the amygdala or hippocampus can cause sever behavior change. For example damage to one of those areas specifically can change an aggressive person. the last fact I learned about the brain is about the temporal lobe and its association with hearing. I learned that the temporal lobe controls how the brain process auditory. I believe learning about the brain is vital and important when studying psychology because of the involvement and understanding needed about the brain. It is needed to make any analysis or assumptions based on what is known. By learning about the brain specifically helps psychologist. To exemplify, psychologist will need to know about the limbic system before making conclusions about whether its damaged or not. A nervous system disorder I would be interested in studying would be cerebral palsy. The way this disorder affects the body and muscles including the brain has me most engaged as this disease is specifically special. three facts of this disease include: there are four types of cerebral palsy. Spastic,Dyskinetic,Ataxic and Mixed. The symptoms of Cerebral Palsy begin in he first two years of life There is no prevention method to this disease
