After reading the assigned selections (Long Ago & Legends), provide a "journal entry" by writing about the following elements:

What idea or ideas do these readings make you think about? How does the author get you to think about this?

What strong reactions did you have as you did the reading? What ideas were you responding to that made you react strongly? Share your reaction to the story/stories (pleasure, surprise, boredom, anger, irritation, etc).

Think about issues of Indian identity presented in the reading. In what ways do you connect with or disconnect from these identities (which the author constructs)? What did you learn about yourself and about others based on the author's representations of the characters and events in the reading?

What questions would you ask if the author were here?
