After reading the material I can identify a time I used the intuitive decision-making model, a time in which that decision proved to be unsuccessful. In this situation, I had a customer who was requesting change for a big bill from my cash register. Usually, this is not something that is done, but I saw this customer often enough that I thought I knew he would not rip my business off. I was wrong. Relying on my intuition about this gentleman resulted in over a hundred dollars of loss. I perceived him as a regular, and trustworthy man which is what made me decide to bend the rules for him. He was requesting change for a $100 bill. The problem then came after he got the initial change. He was switching money fast and confusing me, while I was just trying to provide customer service. He would say things like give me eight 5 dollar bills for this forty and when I had handed him those fives he would quickly take a 20 back and say ok now give me two tens for this twenty... each time he asked to change what he had he was removing some that he was already putting down on the table, I was super busy, so I was distracted. This allowed him to short me a large amount of cash. When I pointed out a problem he ran off and he never came back. Some of the biases that could have led to this problem is relying on a personal judgment of the individual, and not sticking to programmed responses to the request. Had I not focused on the "personal relationship" I had perceived and just stuck to the company policy, this would not have happened. In responding to yiur peers comment on the decision making challenges that they encountered what could they have done differently or more effectively
