After reflecting on the podcast and media surrounding leadership practice, the three areas I will alter in my practice of leadership are as follows: develop coaching and feedback plans for each of my supervisors, provide more opportunities for equity and inclusion, and implement team-building exercises between supervisors within my section. When developing a coaching plan, I will meet with each supervisor and allow them to share the areas where they feel they need coaching and improvement. This will be an open dialogue between me and the supervisor to develop a coaching plan to support the supervisor best. When allowing the supervisor to have input regarding the areas they will be coached on, you will have more buy-in and participation, and the supervisor will be able to track their growth. The second altering measure I will implement is focusing on more initiative for equity and inclusion within our program. Every supervisor in my department differs based on race, gender, knowledge, and leadership preference. The idea is to allow each supervisor to present on their program area or train on their strengths. I use the strength-based approach in this method, hoping to empower each worker. During this implementation, I will also have training on equity and inclusion so supervisors will have information to help them better supervise each employee on their team.
