After reviewing the module materials and reading Chapter 9 of Holzer and Schwester, you should:

 

1. Locate, and briefly examine, a current adopted budget for a U.S. city (shouldn't be too difficult to do -- just go to Google and type in a city name + budget, and chances are, one of the first links you see will take you either directly to it, or to a page with a link to it)
2. write a short essay (two to three paragraphs in length, double spaced, APA formatting) in which you address the following questions:
   1. What type of budget format is used by the city (i.e., line-item budget, program budget, performance budget, or zero-based budget)?  Provide examples to justify your answer.
   2. What are the advantages of using this type of budget format?  What are the disadvantages?
   3. Do you think the budget document provides meaningful information to average citizens who live in the city?  Why / why not?
