The following plan will provide a framework to prepare you for your future career.

Your plan includes four (4) sections: make a resume or curriculum vitae (based on the best options for your intended career), determine networking and mentorship opportunities, and determine options for a graduate degree or potential professional opportunities.

  • Describe the career you wish to obtain. Be as specific as possible.
  • Identify and explain the educational degree/s and/or credentials you need to obtain your career.
  • Consider the skills you identified in the Transferable Skills Inventory and the knowledge/skills you've obtained from your Psychology degree, and explain how they relate to the skills needed for your positions of interest.

Section 2: Potential Graduate Schools or Work Settings

  • Once you have obtained your degree in Psychology, what do you want to do next? Which graduate schools have the programs you have an interest in?
  • What potential organizations have positions that interest you? What steps need to be taken to obtain a position or be accepted to the school of your choice?
