The derivative of this equation can be used to sketch a function by letting us know when the function is increasing or decreasing. It also will let us know when there is a relative minimum or maximum. The advantages of utilizing the derivative stem from the derivative showing us when the initial function is decreasing or increasing at any given point. This allows us to graph the function with relative similarity to what the actual function would look like. Increasing that relative similarity between our hand graphed function and the actual function comes from using the relative maximums and minimums that are shown when using the derivative
