Does that capture your concept of family? Why or why not? Kate Rice contends that a family does much more than that, providing love and affection, a sense of identity and a feeling of belonging. Families also provide a worldview or a spiritual belief that can help make sense of the world, as well as rules and boundaries for appropriate behavior and skill in dealing with the world. Do you believe that this more complex and elaborated definition does a better job of articulating the boundaries of the concept of family? Why or why not?
