Alexander Boone, Esq., has engaged you to assist with an employee dishonesty claim filed with his client, Southern Appalachian Insurance Company, by Anderson Internal Medicine. The claim alleges fraud by Tonya Larsen, wife of Greg Larsen (Larsen's Convenience Store fire loss claim). For this engagement, you've already prepared a bank reconciliation, noted any mismatches in records of disbursements and deposits, and identified categories of potential fraud. Now, Mr. Boone has asked you to look for altered transactions in Anderson's accounting records. Detailed instructions are in chapter 3 of the Casebook; see the Casebook's website for workpaper templates. You'll complete exercise 1 within the team. Mr. Boone has also asked you to summarize transactions in an Excel spreadsheet to identify anomalies that may be relevant to this claim. Analyze the transactions and prepare summaries as described in Exercises 1-3. Document all work in your workpapers files on OneDrive. We'll hold an in-process review next week.
