Although Amy's new boarder is a friend of hers, she absolutely still needs a boarder contract to protect not only herself, but her friend as well. According to Julie Freshman there are many scenarios to consider when creating a boarding contract such as "how the stable will handle emergencies if the owner cannot be reached, release of liability $($where allowed by law$),$ standard of care for the stable's care of the horse, and how the contract can be terminated and advance notice" $($Freshman $2019)$ While Amy may think that a contract isn't needed for her close friend, she needs to consider the possibility of unfortunate events such as her friends horse getting sick or in an accident while she is away, and Amy has to make medical decisions for the horse in her friends absence$.$ A well written contract would protect Amy in that situation, as well as many other unforeseen circumstances!
