Americans purchase a lot of coffee grown in Brazil and elsewhere in Latin America. It would seem that in order to avoid the huge transportation costs of bringing coffee hereand to provide jobs for Americans,we should grow coffee in the USA (excluding Hawaii, where they already grow coffee). No doubt,Americans have the technology to grow it here, even thoughthe weather in the USA is not ideal for this particular crop. However, growing coffee would provide jobs and there even would be new technology jobs for those making the kind of equipment that would make coffee growing possible.
