Amy is an Oklahoma resident and is on the debate team at the University of Oklahoma. Paul is also an Oklahoma resident and is Amy$$s partner on the University of Oklahoma debate team. Paul is driving Amy and two other team members to the National Debate Tournament at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Unbeknownst to his passengers, Paul takes a muscle relaxant before he leaves Oklahoma. When they arrive in Waco, Paul falls asleep at the wheel, veers out of his lane, and collides with another vehicle. Amy is severely injured in the accident. Amy files a lawsuit against Paul in Oklahoma for negligence.
