amygdala, often known as the core of the neural system, focuses on the processing of emotions especially those that relates to fear. In psychopaths, amygdala activities are at a reduced rate which means that they cannot necessarily process their emotions. In a study for extreme sports and risk-takers, amygdala activity is often low in those who participates in such sports. Extreme sports participants are thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies who would put their whole lives at risk just to gain the feeling of satisfaction. An example of such sports would be base jumping, the sport of jumping from buildings, antennas, earth etc. (Tofler, 2018). With all that being said, it was very interesting to learn about other things that people do rather than commit violent crimes to take care of that "need" feeling. It was also interesting to learn about the same amygdala functioning in two different kinds of people. However, I did wonder if those who are risk takers and thrill seekers are psychopaths?
