An employee works in a nuclear facility, deals with a radioactive source for two hours daily. The intensity of the radioactivity of this source 20 Ci , as it emits gamma rays with an average energy within the limits 0.5 MeV.

Suppose the employee weighs 75 kg and has a body area of 2.1 m2 and that he kept a distance of 1 m throughout his interaction with the radioactive source

a) Calculate the equivalent dose that the employee is supposed to receive per day.

b) Calculate the equivalent of the monthly dose that the employee is supposed to receive, knowing that the number of working days per month is estimated at 21 days.

c) Calculate the equivalent annual dose that the employee is supposed to receive, given that he only works for 10 months in the year.

d) The table on shows the actual data recorded by this employee's dose meter on a monthly basis for a whole year. Calculate the annual dose that the employee actually received.

e) Compare the actual dose received by the employee during a year with the maximum annual dose allowed internationally. What are the procedures Should it be pursued?

f) Referring to the table, specify the reasons behind the difference between the dose that the employee is supposed to receive annually (calculated in part c) and the dose actually received within a year (calculated in paragraph d)

given: quality factor of gamma rays Q=1
