An example of a simple behavior change intervention would be the reinforcing of raising hand behavior in the classroom. Every time the child raises their hand and waits to be called on instead of calling out, the teacher should provide praise. If the child does not raise their hand and wait to be called on and instead calls out, the teacher should ignore the calling out behavior and prompt the child to raise their hand. This intervention is in a scientific foundation for many reasons. For example, this intervention adheres to the applied dimension of ABA. The applied dimension states that the behaviors selected for change must be socially significant for the participant (Cooper et al., 2020). The behavior of raising your hand is definitely socially significant for a school aged child. The scientist-practitioner model is a training model which integrates research methodology and applied practice. The goal of this model is to graduate practitioners that embrace and utilize the scientific model in their clinical practice (Dorsey & Harper, 2018). This model will guide my suggested intervention by ensuring I make data-based decisions which are informed by research methodology. References Cooper, J. O., Heron, T. E., & Heward, W. L. (2020). Why or why not? Does the behavior for change meet the Baer et al. (1968) definition of "socially valid"? Does the plan support the scientist-practitioner model
