An example of measure management that is actually still in the court process is a case against the Feeding Our Future nonprofit in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

"An example of measure management that is actually still in the court process is a case against the "Feeding Our Future" nonprofit in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Nearly 70 people were charged in this $250M fraud scheme which was funded by federal government money during the COVID-19 pandemic restricted for feeding youth in need. These folks running this nonprofit bought houses, land, commercial real estate, luxury cars, and jewelry. They claimed to have fed some youth, but definitely not the amount they were reporting. The nonprofit caught the states attention by the amount of youth they claimed to be feeding which soon after caught the United States attention. These people claimed to open more than 200 free meal sites, feeding 2,000-6,000 youth per day, and even conjured up false reports with made up names. Their whole operation and reporting were essentially fake, or distorted. As of 2023, only $50M was able to be recovered.

These people were greedy and thought they could get away with this scheme. They wanted to become the next millionaires, rich, to live a worry-free life. They had a bright-light standard which was the reporting of names that they had to give. They complied with the report but falsified it in the end. The youth who the money was intended to feed was hurt by this nonprofit's actions. While these workers are living the dream rolling in their money, there were youth begging in the streets for just a little bit of spare change to feed their friends or younger siblings."

** Reflecting on the goals of financial reporting and the qualities of a useful report, how would the conceptual framework and standards board might bring about operating distortion and reporting distortion in measure management? **
