The office is open for arriving customers 8 hours a day, although the services are continued for an additional hour to accommodate the remaining customers.
The office has five clerks: two devoted to plates (Mary and Kathy), two devoted to licenses (Sue and Jean), and the team leader (Neil) who can serve both customer types. Neil will serve the customer when the both clerks for plates or the both clerks for licenses are busy. Assume that all clerks are available all the time for the nine-hour day.
i) (10 points) Build a simulation model. Copy and paste Arena flow charts, run set ups and spreadsheet view of each module. Set the replication length to 1.
ii) (5 points) Report the system time (or the total time in system) for both customer types over a nine-hour day.
(b) (5 points) The office is considering cross-training Kathy so she can serve both customer types. Modify the model to represent this, and see what effect this has on system time by customer type.

(c) (5 points) Modify the model from part b) to include 30-minute lunch breaks for each clerk. The breaks should be given in the following order: Mary, Sue, Neil, Kathy, and Jean. Mary will start the first lunch break 180 minutes into the day. And then Sue will take her lunch break 30 minutes later (210 minutes into the day), and so on. What impact does this have on system time by consumer type?
