An opinion letter to a client with the facts below:

- Mr. White had a possible motor vehicle collision case that occurred almost two years ago, on October 18, 2021. His mailing address is 123 Montclare, California 91712. Mr. White works at a clothing store in the mall. He dropped out of high school, but is attending classes at night to earn his high school diploma. He has no legal training.

- Mr. White explained that while he was crossing an intersection in Claremont, California, his vehicle was suddenly struck by another vehicle who ran a red light. After the collision, Mr. White was airlifted to the emergency room. Mr. White suffered numerous injuries from the collision, including a broken wrist, skin abrasions, and ongoing neck and back pain. Mr. White underwent surgery for his wrist. He continues to receive physical therapy for his wrist, neck, and back.

- Although Mr. Whie is injured, he has been hesitant to file a lawsuit because he is fearful of the legal process. The auto insurance carrier for the driver who ran the red light is denying liability and is refusing to settle with him. The auto insurance carrier sent M. White a letter advising him that the statute of limitations is quickly approaching. Unfortunately he lost the letter and now needs our help.

Mr. White has two questions: (1) Mr. White wants to know what the statute of limitations is in a case like his, and (2) He wants to know what happens if he does not file a lawsuit by the statute of limitations deadline.
