The Journey in a Simulation
After completing ten rounds, all doubts and concerns have been thoroughly addressed. The board got together to fully analyze what happened in the journey of these past rounds. Numerous pivotal decisions surfaced that could have significantly altered the trajectory of the adventure. The decision that stood out the most was the measures of production that was produced. It would have been vital to produce more than what we produced in the trajectory of these ten rounds. A higher production volume would have enhanced the opportunity to obtain a better position. Due to the constant urge of not knowing if the company would explode It was truly difficult to handle the countless obstacles faced during the simulation. It seemed that every round arose with a new conflict or with a new situation that would cost a big chunk of the companys income or from the production profits. Contemplating these decisions has led me to wonder whether ethics in the business world is a universal quality for all managers or if it remains an attribute embraced by only a select few.
Overseeing a company will never be a simple task to accomplish. It's difficult to make hundreds of people have the same mentality as one. Compounded by the myriad issues arising in each round, the most formidable hurdle the company faced was a fight incident at the occurred on company premises. This was a difficult situation to handle because there was not one single penny that the company could afford to lose. Contemplating rational responses, the board grappled with the dilemma of either laying off or suspending individuals involved. The problem the board analyzed with suspending them was that everybody would suffer due to their conduct due to the suspended employees' absence in that round. Recognizing the potential dip in the production line, the company collectively opted for a fine, allowing for the opportunity to maintain the desired production levels without compromising the workforce or overall efficiency. These continuous decisions made by the board has heavily underscored the critical role ethics plays in todays business world. While it's evident that ethics is important in the day-to-day life, it makes one wonder about the true importance of ethics in business. During this simulation, numerous decisions were made that did not always align with the highest ethical standards. For example, there was a decision made where the company opted to not inform anyone about the oil situation. This could have damaged the overall cash because the company wouldve had to return the profits done in that specific round. At the end of the day, business is very similar to surviving the opportunities you don't take someone else would. This simulation demonstrated just that. After a deep analysis, it was evident that not all players took the most ethical decisions. Many others also decided to hide their problems in a spot where no one else would see them. It became apparent fast that those who opted for transparency with authorities suffered immediate consequences. But on the other hand, everyone could see that the individuals who opted to not disclose their situation had instant advantages.
Throughout this simulation, we were deeply immersed in a dynamic environment that demanded continuous decision-making. Some of the decisions made are decisions a traditional manager would have to go through. Upon a deep reflection, it becomes apparent that in my personal experience my managerial approach consistently leaned towards prioritizing profits. In each simulation round, the primordial focus was intricately tied to assessing the revenue generated by the company. I understand that there are different ways on how to be a manager but in my opinion, every simulation round was looked at on how much revenue my company provided. Stating this is crucial to maintain a proper reputation within the staff without sacrificing revenue. Striking a delicate balance between nurturing a positive reputation among the staff and ensuring sustained revenue growth emerged as a pivotal challenge. This balance that was so desperately tried to create may have overlooked many ethical aspects. The urgency to create equilibrium led to decisions that, in prioritizing balance might not align with ethical standards. This demonstrated that the importance of ethics in business is not a top priority. Just like in the simulation it does not matter how ethical your company may be if you are not profitable your company will crumble.
The entire company is thrilled to announce a significant achievement in the trajectory of the simulation: zero injuries and zero fatalities. This was a big accomplishment for the company and for the board, since this goal was always of the utmost importance. Despite the inherently unsafe nature of certain job functions, we recognize the vital necessity of allocating substantial resources to ens
