Describe a vision of yourself as an educator 5-10 years from now. What will be the key to your success in the field?

My goal five to ten years from now is to become an educator. I have had the opportunity to work and study in human resources management for the last two and a half decades. I am confident that the knowledge and experience gained as an HR professional can be helpful to like-minded students who are as passionate as I am about human resources. I spent years developing my craft as an HR professional and have set strategic career goals on how I will achieve my ultimate career goal of becoming an educator.

An essential aspect of my professional development is obtaining my Doctor of Business Administration degree from Capella. I have already enrolled and completed about 50 percent of my required courses.

To achieve my goal as an educator, I will first work tirelessly to complete my DBA program and work on developing the necessary skill-sets to become an effective educator in the classroom. The required skill-sets for my professional development as an educator include communication, patience, enthusiasm, confidence, dedication, conflict resolution, organization, etc. Most of these skill-sets I am seeking to enhance, to a certain extent, were examined in teaching Business in Higher Education, and the many nuances involved in proper curriculum development that meet the needs of working adults in an online setting. There is so much to learn within the next five to ten years; however, my primary focus is developing teaching skills to become an effective educator.

Describe a vision of yourself as a doctoral-level practitioner in the field of supply chain management 5-10 years from now. What will be key to your success in the field?

As a doctoral-level practitioner in supply chain management, my vision would include developing effective ways to combat or mitigate the impact of unpredictable events such as those caused by global warming or a pandemic. We have all experienced the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the supply chain, which resulted in shortages of daily necessities such as toilet paper. Can you imagine if there was an effective way for organizations to develop a plan of action to mitigate the severity of unpredictable events? Mitigate the severity in the context of supply chain management by having readily available alternative resources to offset the effects of an unexpected occurrence.

Mitigation efforts start with careful planning and scanning to identify potential weaknesses within the supply chain. For success to follow in this area, it is necessary to incorporate proactiveness as an approach to supply chain management. Organizations must be proactive by conducting evaluations through continuous scanning of the supply chain components to identify potential weaknesses. The main components in the supply chain are planning, sourcing, inventory, production and transportation, and the return of goods.

Describe a vision of yourself some in other professional area, including your field of expertise, as a doctoral-level practitioner. What will be key to your success in the field?

As a human resources professional, the critical elements to success start with knowing and understanding the needs of employees who are your primary customers. In my opinion, success as an HR professional goes beyond what we are knowledgeable of but speaks volumes about how we interact, develop, and threaten employeesthe organization's most significant resources. My success goal to be a continuous learner of my craft in Human Resources and to apply the knowledge and expertise gain to the future development of employees within my organization.
