Scenario for the Questions: There are nearly 3000 roller coaster rides around the world today. A roller coaster designer was interested in how heights of roller coasters compare between tracks that include inversions (where the roller coaster cars will be momentarily upside down) and tracks that do not. A random sample of roller coasters was chosen and the height and whether or not it included inversions was recorded for each. The data are stored in the file "Coaster Data.csv" which can be downloaded from Canvas. The data contains 2 variables: 1. Height: The roller coasters greatest height measured from the ground to the track level (in metres) 2. Inversions: Whether or not the roller coaster track includes any inversions (Yes or No) (a) (i) Generate a bootstrap confidence interval for the median height of roller coasters. (DO NOT use the variable Inversions yet.) Include the output in your assignment answers. (ii) What is the parameter we are estimating using this bootstrap confidence interval? (iii) Do we know the true value of this parameter? (iv) Interpret the bootstrap confidence interval. (v) Briefly explain why students doing this assignment will not all get the same bootstrap confidence interval. (b) (i) Generate a bootstrap confidence interval for the difference in the median height of roller coasters between those that include inversions and those that do not. Include the output in your assignment answers. (ii) What is the parameter we are estimating using this bootstrap confidence interval? (iii) Interpret the bootstrap confidence interval. (iv) Based on the bootstrap confidence interval, is it believable that the median height of roller coasters that include inversions is the same as the median height of those that do not? Briefly justify your answer. Bootstrapping
