A traffic light system operates as follows: Traffic flows in two directions only: North-South and East West. The North-South direction is the major road with the East-West being the minor road. The default condition (no traffic) is the North-South green light ON and East-West red light ON. There is a sensor in the road to detect East-West traffic. This sensor is connected to PCO of the MC68HC11 microcontroller. When a car wishing to travel East-West across the North-South road triggers the sensor, the following events occur. 1. The North-South green light remains on for a further 75 2. Then the North-South yellow light comes on for 15 seconds. 3. Then the North-South red light comes on for 5 seconds. 4. Then the East-West green light comes on for 60 seconds. 5. Then the East-West yellow light comes on for 20 seconds. 6. Then the East-West red light comes on for 5 seconds. 7. The sequence then repeats itself. The sequence is summarized in the table below. Here LEDs are used to represent the traffic lights.
