Answer the following questions relating to normalisation. a) Consider the following narrative and associated table (Table 1) in un-normalised form (UNF) for an engineering firm's daily operations sheet: An operations sheet details all customer jobs for the day. A job is for one customer and consists of a sequence of processes where each process performs many operations on one machine. An operation will use a specific tool. Each job has a specific start and end date, and each operation is timed. The operations sheet has the following data items in UNF: Table Name UNF Job No Customer No Customer Name Customer Address Job Start Date Job Finish Date Job Status Process Sequence No Sequence Start Date Time Sequence End Date Time Machine Operation No Operation Desc. Operation Time Tool Tool Desc. OPERATIONS Table 1: Un-normalized Operation Table You are required to take the above UNF data to third normal form (3NF), to obtain the relevant entities and attributes. Show the steps from UNFO INF 2NF 3NF, naming any new tables formed. For each new or modified table, you must provide prefix primary key elements with an asterisk (*) and prefix foreign key elements with a hash (#). Write your answers in ONE (1) page only. (15 marks) b) Draw an Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) from the normalized table obtained in Q1b) with relevant attributes, constraints and relationships. (10 marks)
