Its purpose is to provide an understanding of how organizations can be managed more effectively and at the same time enhance the quality of employees' work life. Topics include motivation, goal setting and rewards, job design, group dynamics, work stress, power and politics, international aspects of organizations, organizational structure, decision-making, communication, and organizational change and development.

At the conclusion of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Integrate the tenets of various theoretical constructs and strategic and operational models to make decisions, solve problems, and develop plans.
  • Distinguish the difference between leadership and management and use the knowledge to make strategic business decisions and enhance organizational efficiencies and effectiveness through the development and implementation if strategic business plans.
  • Discriminate between different behavioral, motivational, and attitudinal mechanisms when confronted with different situations that are common in modern healthcare organizations.
  • Demonstrate the leadership and interpersonal skills necessary to form, join, lead, and work effectively within within diverse teams of healthcare professionals, providing constructive feedback, and using effective decision-making in groups to achieve strategic and operational objectives.
  • Critically evaluate the unique nature of employee's behavior in organizations, and to understand how to channel and manage organizational behavior in order to achieve goals and superior organizational performance.
