Sport$-$related traumatic brain injuries $($TBI$)$ have received significant media coverage in recent years, in part due to an increased body of scientific literature and growing concern surrounding their long$-$term effects. Also known as "concussions", in sports injury research, a widely used definition has been put forth by the International Conference on Concussion in Sport $($ICCS$).$ An estimated $1\mathrm{.}6$ million to $3\mathrm{.}8$ million sport$-$related concussions occur in the United States annually, with $50\%$ going unreported. In the National Football League $($NFL$)$ a concussion occurs almost every other game $($incidence of $0\mathrm{.}41$ per game$).$
