ARTICLE ANALYSIS

For this assignment, you will be analyzing an article based on ONE of the following ISSUES:

• Should single-use plastics be banned in the United States?
• Should college athletes be paid?
• Should all states ban plastic bags in stores?
• Should community college be free for students in the United States?

Once you choose one of the above issues, you will find an article from a reputable source. You will then analyze and evaluate the article.

CRE101 Article Analysis

The article should be from a reputable source. Make sure that article is written by an author, and not an organization.

Once you have read and analyzed the article, you will write a paper and include the following:

• Title of the Article
• Author
• Article Source
• Date
• Brief summary of the article
• Article analysis identify the following:
  • Topic
  • Issue
  • Authors conclusion
  • Reasons stated to support the conclusion
  • Ambiguous words/phrases
  • Value and descriptive assumptions
  • Are there rival Causes?
  • Are there any deceptive statistics?
• Your overall thoughts and evaluation of the article
  • This is where you include your reaction and overall thoughts on the article. I want to see that you are critically evaluating the article, showing that you analyzed the article. This is where you show that you understand the critical reading and thinking skills that we have discussed and practice in class.
• Brief conclusion

Your paper needs to follow proper MLA formatting and include a Works Cited page. You are only analyzing ONE article, but you may choose to quote the text in your analysis.

Your paper should be 12 point font, and should be AT LEAST 6-7 well-developed paragraphs in length (this would be at least 2-3 pages in length).
