ARTICLE OUTLINE - CURRENT EVENT 10/13/2012 An article review will be due EACH ODD-NUMBERED WEEK (Weeks 1,3,5,7). These are weeks without a Section Exam due. Report should not exceed two pages typed. Prepare the report in a document processor; then deposit the article in the appropriate DropBox in Word (.doc or .docx) format. Article reviews are intended to promote critical analysis of current thought in an area of interest. As such, we expect that the approach should utilize sound information gathering and balanced reporting. 1) Direct reporting of articles from reputable professional groups is a preferred source of sound information, but news reports from reputable media sources are also allowed. 2) Primary or secondary (checking) articles may not be: a. Blogs b. Wikipedia c. Articles on suits or appeals filed (they are collections of allegations without judicial disposition). d. Articles from advocacy sites which are involved in espousing a particular viewpoint on an area of dispute [e.g., JoeTortLawyer.com, NoDeathPenalty.org, etc]. They are likely to be biased. 3) If you are looking at an article that is a news report on a scientific presentation or journal article, you should try and read the original article; otherwise, you are looking at \"Joe said that Sam said ...\" hearsay deal. If you cannot access the original, make sure you describe in your summary what the original base article was. Instruction: Locate a current (within the last three years) article, related to the planned reading for the week, if possible. Copy and Paste, the following write-up outline into your document; then complete the items for your article : 1. CITATION: TITLE, AUTHOR, and DATE OF PUBLICATION, WHERE PUBLISHED (URL, if applicable) 2. ARTICLE ABSTRACT: (In your own words, provide a summary of the article - include highlights/pertinent facts from article; copy and paste is encouraged, but quoted material should be indicated by indentation or quotation marks). 3. Research the topic on the web, providing two URLs of articles you found useful (Including title, author). State Clarifications/contradictions/credibility relating to the original article. Research articles should have the same citation format as the primary article, including title, author, date, publication 4. Explain what impact this subject will have on the delivery of health care and whom it may impact most. 5. What philosophical/value issues are raised in considering this article
