As a business Analyst, plan and redesign Royal Dutch Shell's Energy Transition Strategy using the following outlines.

(a) Introdution:

  1. Demonstrate your understanding of how RDS developed the current strategy including details such as the scope industry assessment, the horizon chosen, and the scope of evolving technologies considered. Your analyses should also possibly include the scope of stakeholders consulted and how (using only public information where available).\.
  2. Highlight the extent to which you recon BACCM may have been applied and areas of the planning process that may have benefited from the full scope of information provided in the Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring and Elicitation and Collaboration knowledge areas in IIBAs BABOK.
  3. Summarize your intent to redesign this plan following the five tasks recommended under the Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring knowledge area in the BABOK Guide.

(b) Business Analysis Approach:

  1. Explain your approach in detail, and why it is suited to RDS considering constraints specific to the company (i.e., corporate structure, assets and competences etc.,)

(c) Information Management Plan: I. Explain what kind of information you would require for this analysis, including details such as temporal and geographical extends.

  1. Explain your chosen sources for such information and why? Include alternatives if they exist.
  2. Clarify if you need any information management systems i.e., databases and tools and for what kind of information.

(d) Governance Plan:

  1. Explain how you would handle analyses scope development and approval at the inception
  2. Explain how you would classify change requirements to this scope, which may be either by scale or time proposed or both. In addition, highlight any tools you may use for this process from your own research and/or experience,
  3. Explain how you would manage change requests after classification including elements such as the requirements for immediate acceptance/rejection or scheduling.

(e) Performace Improvement Plan:

  1. Develop a set of metrics with which you would assess the efficacy of your analyses when it is implemented. You need to explain each metric, how it should be measured and why it is important.
  2. Explain how often these metrics would be measured and the overall story that would be communicated from their measurement each time. Also demonstrate how any lapses identified from a scheduled performance assessment would be dealt with (i.e., the interaction of this plan with your change management process documented earlier).

(f) Discussion:

  1. Discuss your general plan on the merits
  2. Explain any differences from that which generated the current RDS strategy
  3. Explain why your plan should be accepted and why it would yield a better strategy than RDSs current 2050 strategy. A better strategy may imply more activities, a different split in terms of the companys focus on the activities in the current strategy (e.g., 20% more on Efficiency improvements and Carbon Capture and 10% less investment in new renewable energy or vice versa), or a more aggressive divesting in carbon intensive hydrocarbon plays etc.
