As Battalion Chief I am being placed in roles that deal with assessing the need for change and/or updating policies. This class has taught me the importance of identifying the need for policy changes, identifying the intent behind policies, formulating the process of public policy, and most important understanding the beneficiaries and special interest groups wanting policy changes. As I continue and push forward in my career, strong foundation of public policy concepts will help me in recognizing the priorities and needs policies are intended for; 1) The residents within the community I serve 2) The employee who provide those services
